    We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to join our growing Database Engineering team to contribute to our Database as a Service (DBaaS) platform. As a Database Reliability Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and availability of our critical databases using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automation. You will work closely with senior engineers to learn and implement best practices for database administration, monitoring, and incident response using automation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to launch their career in database reliability engineering and gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies

    Major Activities

    + Assist in the building, maintenance and administration of various database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQLServer, Redis, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).

    + Monitor database performance and identify potential bottlenecks.

    + Implement and maintain database backups and recovery procedures.

    + Participate in on-call rotation to address database incidents and emergencies.

    + Automate routine database tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, GoLang, Bash) and IaC tools like Terraform, Ansible or Chef etc

    + Collaborate with development teams to optimize database queries and schema design.

    + Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices using Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA etc) or Backstage

    + Learn and apply database security best practices

    + Stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies and trends.

    + Contribute to the improvement of database infrastructure and processes using automation.

    + Participate in capacity planning and performance testing

    Minimum Education

    + Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field; or equivalent experience

    Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills

    + 2-4 years of experience

    + Familiar with data modelling and database design principles

    + Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL

    + Familiar with IaC tools (Terraform/Ansible/Chef etc.) and DevOps tools (GitHub/Jenkins etc.)

    Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires

    + Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools

    + Experience with DevOps and Agile methodologies

    + Understanding of software engineering principles and practices

    + Understanding of network routing and switching

    + Understanding of storage networks, shared and block devices
