Job Description
**ORDER OF PREFERENCE:** The selection for Maintenance and Construction is made on the basis of fitness and ability with preference given to: Maintenance and Construction District, System-Wide (L689), Authority-Wide and external candidates, respectively.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
+ High school diploma or GED
+ Must pass a pre-employment assessment covering cognitive ability.
Experience
+ Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a warehouse and storeroom environment
Certification/Licensure
+ Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license
+ Commercial material handling equipment operator's certificate (i.e. forklifts, order pickers, rider pallet jacks, counter-balance lift trucks, or other self-propelled, commercial material handling equipment) within 30 days of hire
Preferred
+ Associate's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or related field
Mission Essential Designation
In accordance with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) this job has been identified as critical to mission essential functions. Incumbents in this role may be required to report to or continue to work in the event of authorized office closings or service suspensions due to severe weather, natural disaster, fire, operational emergencies or related events.
Summary
The Supply Chain Associate executes assigned warehouse tasks, inbound and outbound operations, transportation and logistics activities, or a related functional process, on a specified shift within the Office of Supply Chain Warehousing and Logistics. The incumbent performs all work in accordance with all safety guidelines, while assuring the highest level of quality. Works as part of a team to continuously improve the efficiency of WMATA's Supply Chain and instill a culture of customer fixation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Performs warehouse and logistics activities including, but not limited to, warehouse receiving, storing, handling, packaging, shipping, delivery, recording, and material counting; controlling material and equipment, maintaining orderly parts storage areas; cleaning floors, shelves, bins, aisles, docks and work areas; user level maintenance on material handling equipment; operating various types of material handling equipment; assembling, modifying and labeling storage racks, bins and cabinets; and complying with office processes and procedures.
+ Executes warehouse tasks, inbound/outbound operations, and/or functional processes to maintain inventory control and accuracy while focusing on system-directed and customer order fulfillment service levels.
+ Ensures warehouse safety, housekeeping, and access control are maintained within the warehouse environment, including securing and locking entrances and exits, escorting all non-warehouse personnel, facing the shelves, cabinets, warehouse floors, docks and other assigned areas, relabeling products, and floors as needed, and operating floor sweeping and cleaning machines.
+ Builds and maintains professional relationships and interactions with frontline customers regarding product needs, order fulfillment inquiries and issues. Collaborates with suppliers, peers, Supply Chain Planning & Analytics liaison and supervisors to provide feedback and issue resolution to customers. Helps to facilitate high levels of customer service, improve supply chain planning, and reduce order fulfillment time for customers.
