How you make a difference
The Assistant Mental Health Director is responsible for the provision of mental health services.
Key Responsibilities
+ Oversee and manage a team of psychologists and Qualified Mental Health Professionals across the prison system, ensuring recruitment, selection, training, and supervision are in accordance with contractual requirements.
+ Actively participate in required meetings with the ADC and engage in system-wide Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives.
+ Lead case conferences for special needs inmates, addressing management within facilities, transitions to psychiatric hospitals, and release planning.
+ Provide administrative supervision and direction to psychiatrists, clinical nurse specialists, Qualified Examiners, and Community Access Board members, ensuring adherence to documentation requirements and treatment planning.
+ Manage all aspects of mental health services in correctional facilities, including outpatient programs, day treatment, residential treatment units, behavioral management units, forensic evaluation, and civil commitment.
Additional Details
Qualified applicants must have one of the following licenses: LPC, LCSW, Psychologist. In addition to licensure, preferred applicants will have experience in clinical and administrative supervision of other mental health professionals, have a strong attention to detail, excellent organization skills, ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, have excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to independently organize and implement mental health programming.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education
+ Masters in clinical or counseling psychology or in social work from an accredited college or university.
Experience
+ At least five years of progressively responsible management experience providing behavioral health services of similar scope and complexity.
+ Experience in correctional behavioral health care is preferred
Licenses/Certifications
+ Designated Qualified Mental Health Professional in accordance with state of employment requirements.
