Job Summary and Qualifications
The Speech Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing impairments. As a member of the health care team, the Speech Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments and establishes appropriate treatment goals. The Speech Therapist serves as an educator to patients, families, students and colleagues.
What you will do in this role:
+ You will conduct a subjective assessment of assigned patient’s speech language abilities during spontaneous conversation. You will administer objective tests to assess patient’s communication assets and liabilities.
+ You will structure and implement individualized patient program to improve communication abilities.
+ You will evaluate patient regularly during treatment and adjust program as needed to maximize patient progress.
+ You will document progress in patient’s chart. You will complete notes, charges, discharge notes and patient communication.
+ You will consult with Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding pre-screen assessments and physician consultations to determine appropriate placement of potential patients.
What qualifications you will need:
+ Licensed Speech Pathologist in the state of Texas
+ Masters Degree from an SLP program
+ Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR, or CPR for Healthcare Providers, or Heart Saver CPR must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
+ **A minimum of 1 year experience in Inpatient, Adult and Pediatric with NICU experience a plus.**
+ Certificate of Clinical Competency required
+ Experience with Modified Barium Swallow Studies preferred
+ **Must be able to work 2 shifts a week.**
