    FT - EKG Tech - Experience Preferred. EKG certification a plus. Candidates typically performs non-invasive, stat, pre-operative and outpatient EKG and ECG testing .

     

    Department is 24hrs/Clinic hours are 7a-5p. Must take on-call 2 days a month, must work in ER/inpatient setting.

    Work Schedule: Monday – Friday Rotating schedule of 7a-3p/7a-3:30/8a-5p

    Education/Experience required/desired: Has experience or education in cardiovascular technology and use specialized monitoring equipment to record electromotive variations in action of heart muscle, cardiac rhythms, rhythm analysis, Holter monitoring, and stress testing. Certified Medical Assistants, clinical exercise Physiologists, C.NA, Patient Care Tech or a related field performing these procedures are welcomed to apply.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Cardiology Tech 1 handles performing routine, stat, pre-operative and outpatient EKG testing to help physicians in the delivery of patient care. Records electromotive variations in action of heart muscle by using electrocardiograph machine to give data for diagnosis of heart ailments.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

    + Completes all necessary steps to get and process electrocardiograms.

    + Explains test procedures as needed to prepare patients for the process and to provide them with the necessary functions.

    + Utilizes all equipment associated with EKG procedures properly and records the necessary information accurately to obtain high quality results.

    + Monitors heart rates, arrhythmias and blood pressure under the supervision of a Senior EKG technician and/or a physician.

    + Notes any significant deviation in technique used to record EKG and completes any required forms and distributes reports by Baylor Scott & White Health procedures.

    + Performs Holter Monitor hookups using established procedures.

    + Performs basic functions on MUSE-EKG database system.

    + Downloads EKG's accurately for proper storage and retrieval. Prints record and attached proper documentation to tracing for all billing transactions.

    + Performs retrieval and report distribution tasks quickly and efficiently.

    + Inputs patient demographic and test data into computerized EKG machine accurately and in a timely way.

    + Maintains cleanliness of work area, including monitoring supplies.

    + Maintains equipment in operational condition by replenishing paper and reporting any problems to the appropriate person in a conscientious and timely way.

    KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

    + Previous experience in healthcare related field preferred.

    + Use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required.

    + Ability to multi-task and self-lead problem solving skills.

    + Ability to demonstrate precision and flexibility.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    + EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent

    + EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience

    + CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
