POSITION DETAILS
Reporting to the Benefits Manager, the Benefits Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating employee benefits for all full and part-time staff members. The coordinator will serve as a member of the Benefits team and a liaison to the health insurance carriers, retirement systems, union welfare funds and other related benefits agencies.
In addition to the CUNY Title, the Benefits Coordinator will be specifically responsible for the following tasks:
• Provide information relating to employment and benefits to health carriers, welfare funds, and pension systems
• Conduct new hire benefit orientations, track and follow-up with benefit enrollments
• Respond to employees’ inquiries regarding various benefit plans.
• Assist with adjunct re-certification, pension service request and tuition waivers.
• Enter benefit related payroll deductions and input income reports
• Assist with benefits orientation for staff, track and follow-up with benefits enrollments.
• Prepare occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) logs.
• Track and process Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) logs.
• Review and process Buy-Out request and Force-in TRS pension system.
• Coordinate Weight Watchers Program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• One to two years’ experience specifically working with employee benefits preferred.
• Two (2 years) job related experience in higher education preferred.
• Experience using PeopleSoft/Oracle information system (CunyFirst) in a higher education environment preferred.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office.
• Detail oriented and organized
• Customer service acumen
• Ability to handle confidential information
• Ability to work within a team environment
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Administers employee benefits programs for faculty and staff, assists in overall benefit administration, and provides employees with information regarding benefits.
- Counsels and assists staff on employee benefits matters
- Conducts workshops as part of new employee orientation on benefits matters
- Administers selected benefits, such as COBRA coverage
- Serves as a liaison to insurance carriers, retirement systems, welfare funds, and University Benefits office
- Coordinates benefits processing in Payroll systems and other University systems
- Prepares reports for College administration
- Assists in updating materials and web pages for employee use
- Maintains accurate, confidential employee records
- Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary range is $ **68,245 - $70,541,** commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience.
