Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Serves as a lead technical expert for the review and negotiation of all sponsored research contracts.
+ Provides assistance to faculty and staff in preparing all types of proposals for contractual awards with varying complexity and for all types of funding agencies and sponsors.
+ Maintains an above average portfolio of standard and complex sponsored research agreements.
+ Negotiates all standard and complex sponsored research agreements and subcontracts with funding agencies and sponsors.
+ Reviews contract terms/conditions with limited guidance from supervisors or General Counsel, unless needed.
+ Interacts with funding agencies, faculty and staff to resolve legal, regulatory and institutional issues.
+ Responds to agency, faculty or staff requests for additional information and/or clarification.
+ Ensures appropriate certifications are obtained by faculty and forwarded to sponsor.
+ Coordinates getting required approvals or certifications from the appropriate organizational committees such as the Institutional Review Board and the Institutional Animal Use and Care Committee.
+ Prepares Notice of Award Acceptance documents.
+ Ensures accuracy of administrative and financial award information ensures funding agencies receive required approval letters.
+ Ensures all compliance and regulatory requirements have been met as required by law, institutional or agency/sponsor policies.
+ Maintains required records.
+ Handles non-financial post-award activities such as transfer of contractual awards, project personal changes, and administrative.
+ Assist with training of new employees.
+ Assists management as needed with reports and special projects.
+ Assists with conducting educational seminars/workshops for faculty and staff.
+ May supervise nonexempt staff.
+ Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor's degree in business management, applied science or a related field and seven years of related experience.
+ Certified Research Administrator preferred. Strong communication (verbal and written), negotiation, problem-solving and customer service skills.
+ Ability to synthesize and apply complex information.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University location as needed and at times, on short notice. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
