    GENERAL SUMMARY

    *

     

    Provide diagnostic imaging services according to accepted standards and protocols and assure patient safety during procedures

     

    *

    FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    *

    General Diagnostic Procedures:

    * Performs all diagnostic procedures following policies and procedures established by the department and proper protocol.

    * Adjusts patient care based on age specific needs

    * Uses all equipment properly and in a manner that minimizes hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.

    * Determines most suitable position and shields patient for optimum imaging, protocol, and patient comfort. Follows ALARA principle (staff and patient shielding).

    * Explains procedures and responds to questions appropriately.

    * Scans paperwork into the PAC’s System and have proper paperwork filled out (IV contrast paperwork).

    * Maintains working knowledge of the PAC’s System.

    * Demonstrates knowledge of CD Burning.

    * Completes patient charges for each exam in a timely manner.

    * Transports patients to and from the department.

    * Maintains a clean and orderly environment and associated checklist.

     

    *

    Special Diagnostic Testing:

    * Demonstrates competency in performing all procedures and use of the equipment for CAT Scans as assigned.

    * Initiates a peripheral IV for patients requiring designated diagnostic testing within the radiology dept in accordance with Hospital policy and as assigned after completion of education and competence demonstration.

    * Reviews and follows the CT protocol assigned by the Radiologist.

    * Keep dose as low as possible to achieve a diagnostic exam.

    * Use the appropriate protocols for adults and pediatric.

     

    *

    Administrative:

    * Uses computer to access reports.

    * Follows protocols for releasing of images.

    * Assists with administrative responsibilities of the department to include scheduling appointments, answering the phone, etc.

    * Performs all quality controls procedures daily as assigned and maintains appropriate logs.

    * Orders radiology supplies as directed.

    * Participates in annual surveys and inspections.

    * Able to teach/aid students.

    Graduate of an accredited school of radiology technology.

    Registered/licensed with American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT).

    Or equivalent in education and experience.
