GENERAL SUMMARY

*

Provides diagnostic imaging services according to accepted standards and protocols and assures patient safety during procedures.

*

FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

*

General Diagnostic Procedures:

* Performs all diagnostic procedures following policies and procedures established by the department.

* Adjusts patient care based on age-specific needs.

* Uses all equipment properly and in a manner that minimizes hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.

* Determines most suitable position and shields patient for optimum imaging and patient comfort.

* Follows ALARA principle (staff and patient shielding).

* Explains procedures and responds to questions appropriately.

* Scans paperwork into the PAC’s System.

* Maintains working knowledge of the PAC’s System.

* Demonstrates knowledge of CD Burning.

* Completes patient charges for each exam in a timely manner.

* Transports patients to and from the department.

* Maintains a clean and orderly environment.

Special Diagnostic Testing:

* Demonstrates competency in performing all procedures and use of the equipment for CAT Scans and/or Mammography, as appropriate and assigned.

* Keeps dose as low as possible to achieve diagnostic exam.

*

Administrative:

* Uses computer to access reports.

* Follows protocols for releasing of images.

* Assists with administrative responsibilities of the department to include scheduling appointments, answering the phone, etc.

* Performs all quality controls procedures daily as assigned and maintains appropriate logs.

* Participates in annual surveys and inspections.

* Able to teach/aid students.

Registered/licensed with American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT)
