Functional Job Title: Toll Collection System Technical Inspector

Work Location: Randall’s Island
This position is eligible for telework which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

Earnings Potential: $80,963 - $110,226
Hay Points: 479
Overtime Eligibility: Not eligible for paid overtime in accordance with FLSA
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Toll Collection System (TCS) Technical Inspector is responsible for the day-to-day inspection and support of MTA Bridges & Tunnels’ (B&T) Toll Collection Systems (TCS) such as the Open Road Tolling (ORT) and Central Business District Tolling (CBDT). In addition, the individual occupying this position will be responsible for inspecting the quality of work provided by the TCS contractor in installing and maintaining B&T's TCS equipment and ensuring that they are operating as designed and safe for the motoring public.
This position is critical to the successful evolution of B&T’s Open Road Tolling (ORT) TCS at a pivotal time when current operations are expanding to support the CBDT program.
Some responsibilities for the CBDTP and ORT systems:
Continue to be operated in a safe manner and properly maintained
Clean and free of vandalism
Secure
Detecting vehicles and capturing images
Inventory control
Issue identification, tracking, and resolution
Coordinate closures and emergency response
Work orders are completed in a timely manner
Prepare reports on contractor performance and equipment inspection findings
Track issues through to resolution via email, text, work orders, and voice calls
Open work orders as needed
Support B&T project work in the field for both CBDT installations and ORT equipment upgrades and replacements
Assist in testing of B&T Toll Collection Systems after system and equipment upgrades
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
Minimum four (4) years of technical work experience in electronics repair, working with electronics in a technical capacity or related field
Additional years of experience can be substituted in lieu of education
Experience with networking and familiarity with computer hardware and technology.
Must possess a driver’s license valid in the State of New York.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail
Ability to work in inclement weather
Excellent analytical decision-making skills
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Ability to respond to any authority location on a 24/7 basis when required.
This position may also be required to work nights and/or weekend shifts.
PREFERRED
Experience in working on toll collection or other industrial type systems
Operation and features of B&T’s existing toll collection system.
Operation and Features of All Electronic and Open Road Tolling.
