The Engineering Technician II position is located in the Jacksonville District Office. This office provides oversight of department projects in Onslow and Pender Counties. The position is responsible for processing, reviewing, and approving driveway permits, encroachment agreements, subdivision plans, and road additions. This role includes conducting on-site inspections to ensure compliance with NCDOT standards for these projects. The position involves communication with engineers, developers, the public, local government offices, and NCDOT staff. The role also includes leading pre-construction meetings with applicants and performing field inspections, issuing deficiency letters when necessary for road additions, driveway permits, and encroachments. Strong organizational and time-management skills are essential to ensure that all permits, agreements, and projects are completed accurately and on time. The role also requires the ability to write clear memos and reports that explain technical information and engineering concepts.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
