Robert Half Management Resources is currently looking for an experienced controller to support an interim engagement with a retail industry client in Delaware, Ohio. The interim controller will help with overseeing the day to day operations of the accounting team, as well as contribute as a hands-on producer. Ideal candidates will bring energy and enthusiasm, as well as be excited to help with month-end and financial reporting process improvements. This role is based 100% onsite at the client's location in Delaware, OH. This role will start as a 3 month+ contract with contract to hire a possibility.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage the accounting team, including the Assistant Controller and several other accounting support resources.

• Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.

• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of journal entries and the general ledger.

• Collaborate on maintaining and improving the chart of accounts to align with business needs.

• Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel skills to analyze and present financial data effectively.

• Provide insights and recommendations to leadership based on financial analysis.

• Adapt to and manage financial operations using our proprietary AS400-based system.

• Support the implementation of Power BI for enhanced reporting and analytics, if applicable.

• Maintain compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

• Foster a high-energy and collaborative work environment.

Requirements • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management.

• Proven expertise in financial reporting, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI is a plus.

• Strong understanding of the chart of accounts and its application in the retail industry.

• Leadership experience, including managing and mentoring team members.

• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work on-site in Delaware, Ohio, five days a week.

• Retail industry experience is highly preferred.
