    Description

    We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant with experience in grant management and nonprofit accounting. This role will be responsible for supporting the financial operations related to grants, donations, and fund accounting, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and nonprofit reporting standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Assist with tracking and reporting on grants, including budget monitoring, expense tracking, and compliance with grant terms and conditions.

    + Prepare regular financial reports for funders, leadership, and board members.

    + Support the preparation of grant proposals and budgets in collaboration with program staff.

    + Maintain accurate records of restricted and unrestricted funding.

    + Assist in month-end closing activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

    + Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit regulations, and audit requirements.

    + Help coordinate annual audits, including preparation of schedules and providing documentation to auditors.

    + Collaborate across departments to ensure proper allocation of costs to programs and grants.

    + Monitor and help improve internal controls related to grants and donations.

    + Support other accounting tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll as needed.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

    + 1+ years of experience in nonprofit accounting, grant management, or related financial roles.

    + Knowledge of fund accounting principles and nonprofit financial reporting (e.g., Form 990).

    + Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar).

    + Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

    + Strong communication and collaboration skills.

    + Experience working with government or foundation grants.
