Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description
As a Material Handler, you will provide essential shop floor support for receiving, material handling, staging, and shipment activities. You will be responsible for organizing and stocking material supplies to meet production requirements and inventory control guidelines in a just-in-time (JIT) environment. Your role is crucial in ensuring a safe working environment by observing safe work practices and following all safety policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
+ Record all material movement within the ERP system to ensure 100%+ inventory accuracy.
+ Deliver material to production lines.
+ Organize and maintain general storage areas.
+ Perform shift pre-inspections as outlined by OSHA on all material handling equipment.
+ Bring empty dunnage to the receiving area or to the bailer.
+ Ensure production areas are fully stocked prior to end of shift relief.
+ Rotate all material to ensure 100% first-in, first-out (FIFO) per daily FIFO requirements.
+ Support plant-wide material organization and housekeeping goals.
+ Observe and report maintenance issues on forklifts, including shift assessments.
+ Maintain forklift certification and attend update training as needed.
+ Remove cardboard and adhere to all safety rules.
+ Perform cycle counts and 100% inspection of incoming material.
+ Verify material against packing lists and report discrepancies/damaged material immediately.
+ Responsible for all shipping/receiving paperwork, including filling out books.
+ Help with service as needed and update the receiving log for every shipment.
Essential Skills
+ 1.5 - 2 years of relevant material handler/forklift experience in a manufacturing setting.
+ Experience operating a sit-down forklift.
+ Self-motivated and able to perform duties with minimal supervision.
+ Works well in a team environment.
+ Working knowledge of basic hand tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Forklift certification.
+ Team management experience.
+ Computer skills.

Work Environment
This role is based in a clean plastics assembly plant with occasional dust. You will mainly interact with PMs and manufacturing personnel. The plant is launching another line soon and adding a third shift. The facility has five plastic injection machines, which are always running and require 2-3 tool changes per day. Shifts include Monday to Friday, with some Saturdays and Sundays, on the 2nd shift (2pm - 10pm) and 3rd shift (10pm - 6am).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warren, Michigan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.51 - $16.51/hr.
