Job Title: Assistant Chief Engineer
Job Description
Join our team as an **Assistant Chief Engineer** , overseeing **850,000 square feet** of premier downtown office buildings in **Colorado Springs** . In this role, you will be responsible for performing essential repairs and maintenance across **electrical, mechanical, lighting, plumbing, and HVAC systems** , ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. Additionally, you will lead and manage a team of skilled **facilities maintenance technicians** and **building engineers** , fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
Responsibilities
+ Perform basic repair tasks for electrical, mechanical, lighting, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
+ Address hot/cold calls and troubleshoot system parameters, understanding theory and controls.
+ Manage fan coils, cooling towers, dampers, and perform plumbing tasks like snaking 50+ feet and maintaining valves on urinals and p-traps.
+ Change electrical components from T8 to LEDs and read wiring diagrams.
+ Conduct fire alarm system tests, fire pump tests, and adhere to safety protocols.
+ Oversee and schedule the work of 3-4 Building Engineers, delegate work orders, order necessary parts, and manage vendor relationships using CMMS.
Essential Skills
+ 3-5 years of building maintenance experience.
+ Proficiency in facilities maintenance, plumbing, electrical work, painting, drywall, HVAC, and mechanical repair.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 3-5 years of commercial experience.
+ Experience using vendor management platforms.
+ Ability to manage and train a team.

Work Environment
You will work with a team of 4 Building Engineers for each downtown building, reporting to the Facilities Director. The role includes an on-call rotation every 4 to 5 weeks. You will be required to be onsite within an hour after being contacted. This comes with a pay increase during on-call service.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $43.00/hr.
