Title of Position: Youth Development Specialist
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Supportive Housing, Stone House
Reports to: Program Director, Stone House (PD)
Salary: 25.92 /hr. Positions reporting to this position: None
Purpose of the Position
Youth Development Specialist is responsible for the planning, developing, and coordinating educational/recreational activities for Stone House. The Youth Development Specialist reports to the Program Director, Stone House.
Responsibilities:
•Commit to using Evidence-Based Practices (EBP), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma Informed Care (TIC), family-centered case management, and boundary setting to help clients achieve their goals.
•Plan, develop, and coordinate of all educational/recreational activities for Stone House children and families.
•Establish schedules and ensure information is posted and distributed to the client families.
•Collaborate with the Department of Education, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), and other programs that provide free and low cost educational/recreational activities for children and families.
•Collaborate with other Win departments to organize special events for holiday celebrations reflecting the racial, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of our families.
•Participate in case conferences and staff meetings as required by program.
•Developing after school programming.
•Prepare and complete require documentation to support and track activities of clients.
•Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment, and orders supplies as needed.
•Ensures that the recreation rooms, etc. are maintained clean and organized.
•Develop a service plan for each client, which will define the client goals and track progress against goals.
•Collaborate with community service providers as needed with the goal of maintaining client self-sufficiency.
•Perform other related duties as needed.
Essential Functions:
•Must be able to ascend/descend stairs in the buildings where client families reside.
•Must be able to escort clients and children to events using public transportation.
Qualifications:
•Commitment to Win’s mission, vision, and values.
•BA degree in Human Services or related field plus two (2) years of experience working with young adults and children.
•Knowledge of working with at-risk families around the issues from a MI and TIC perspective.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
