    Nurse Supervisor Inpatient - Family Birth Center

    Position Summary:

    The Nurse Supervisor Inpatient - Labor & Delivery will work in collaboration with nursing leadership to develop and implement patient care policies to ensure they are based on evidence and/or best practice nursing standards and comply with regulatory requirements. As new nursing knowledge and innovations in practice advance, works to implement and monitor the application into practice. Ensures standardized implementation across their area of responsibility by working closely with the nurses. Coordinates the activities of the nursing staff, including appropriate staffing levels to ensure quality and safe patient centered care.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Required

    + Current Montana Licensure (Registered Nurse)

    + Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) within two years of hire

    + American Heart Association BLS

    + Two (2) years’ ambulatory or acute care nursing experience

     

    Preferred

     

    + Certification in Ambulatory Nursing

    + Prior supervisory experience of clinical nursing staff

    Essential Job Functions:

    + Assists leadership with broad operations to ensure the provision of comprehensive departmental services in compliance with all regulatory agencies and hospital requirements.

    + Ensures a collaborative departmental approach to long-range strategic operational planning, care and service design and development of organizational policies, which reflect the mission of the organization.

    + Coordinates and oversees the organization-wide departmental services. Continuously assesses, measures and improves departmental performance.

    + Demonstrates responsible management of all departmental resources.

    + Demonstrates clinical/technical and managerial competency. Ensures staff professional needs are met.

    + Leads, teaches, inspires, helps and consistently demonstrates hospital behavioral standards

    + Strong leadership managerial skills; ability to plan, delegate, monitor and improve work performance

    + Demonstrates sound judgement, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times

    + Ability to work in a busy and stressful environment

    + Creativity, problem analysis and decision making

    + Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity and maintains confidentiality

    + Detail oriented, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize

    + Ability to work varied shifts

    Schedule Requirements

    + This role requires regular and sustained attendance.

    + The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.

    + On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.

Various chemicals and medications are used in healthcare settings. Job tasks may involve handling cleaning products, disinfectants, and other substances. Infectious diseases are caused by contact with patients in areas that may have contagious illnesses. Emotionally challenging situations, such as dealing with distressed patients or difficult family interactions.
