Our employees play a vital role in advancing sustainability, environmental justice, and clean energy solutions, ensuring a positive and lasting impact on Massachusetts and its residents. *Description: Bureau of Water Resources (BWR) – Drinking Water Program Intern* * * The BWR Drinking Water Intern will support MassDEP’s efforts to address PFAS contamination in public drinking water systems. This role focuses on tracking permit applications related to PFAS treatment and using GIS to map water supplies with existing or planned treatment systems. The resulting data will help inform future regulations on managing and disposing of PFAS-contaminated materials. *Responsibilities will include:* * Track PFAS treatment-related permit applications for community and non-transient non-community (NTNC) water systems** * Use GIS to map public water supplies with PFAS6 treatment systems * Assist in developing resources to inform regulatory decision-making around spent media disposal * Work collaboratively with Drinking Water Program staff to organize and maintain accurate records * Participate in relevant staff meetings and discussions related to PFAS regulations and water quality *Preferred Experience and Qualifications:* * Proficiency in the ESRI suite of ArcGIS software, or similar GIS application * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software * Basic Drinking water treatment knowledge * Ability to work independently, and in an organized manner with strong attention to detail. * Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of data, to draw conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations. *A resume and cover letter must be submitted and uploaded as part of the application.* * * *First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.* ** ** _*Comprehensive Benefits*_ When you embark on a career with the Commonwealth, you are offered an outstanding suite of employee benefits that add to the overall value of your compensation package.
