FMH Conveyors is searching for aBuyer, responsible for supporting purchasing, production, engineering and customer service quote requests. This position will require a person with excellent documentation, organization and communication skills with the ability to learn quickly and improve existing operations, systems and methods. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is required.
The Buyer is a member of the Supply Chain team and collaborates with the other functional teams (Sales, Operations, Engineering, Finance, HR & Manufacturing Operations) on executing company strategies, meeting budgets, and the work unit planned processes.
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties as assigned.
+ Assists in purchase order management to fill production and parts orders by monitoring and expediting purchase orders
+ Notifies management if requested deliveries cannot be met and communicates new delivery dates
+ Confirms receipt of purchase order to the supplier
+ Manages confirmations to ensure pricing and delivery dates are accurate and contacts suppliers on past due purchase orders
+ Handles all quote requests from Inside Sales and Customer Service for customer parts orders
+ Manages customer backlog report to ensure timely delivery from suppliers
+ Expedites production parts and customer orders as needed
+ Places MRO and expense purchase orders from purchase requisitions
+ Enters expense, VMI, raw material, and consignment purchase orders as needed
+ Maintains on time purchase orders from suppliers
+ Ensures company policies and procedures are reviewed often and notifies the Purchasing Manager when such policies or procedures may need to be revised to increase work efficiency in the department
+ Assists in leading annual physical inventory
+ Participates in the SIOP meetings and provides updates as needed
+ Observes safety and security procedures and reports potentially unsafe conditions
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
+ Bachelor's degree in a business-related field (business administration, finance, supply chain, etc.) preferred
+ Understanding of ERP/MRP systems
+ Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness; generates suggestions for improving work/processes
+ Learns quickly when facing new problems; open to change; strives for continuous improvement of self and processes.
+ Excellent communication (oral and written)
+ Knowledge of production and inventory control functions
+ Experience with lean concepts and tools
+ Knowledge of purchasing and manufacturing systems
+ 5-7 Years of experience
+ Strong analytical, administrative, and organizational skills
+ Strong collaboration skills across multiple departments
+ Strong Sence of Urgency and Teamwork
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Stand, walk, or be mobile for up to an eight-hour shift; ascend and push, and pull up to 50 lbs., bend, twist and reach to check freight, stack boxes, and label.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This is an office-based position that makes frequent visits to the production floor.
