    Description

    General Summary

    Performs installation, inspection, repair, service, and replacement of various fire detection, alarm components.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    + Certify and tag all Fire Alarm Systems in accordance with the latest version of NFPA13 National Fire Protection Association Sprinkler Systems for Fire Protection and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) 3-600-02.

    + Test all newly installed fire alarms.

    + Perform regular inspections to ensure systems and equipment work according to specifications.

    + Responds to maintenance calls relating to non-functioning fire alarms.

    + Performs duties in accordance with the applicable NFPA, Federal, State, and contract specific regulations.

    + Utilizes computers to document inspections and maintenance.

    + Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned spaces and the workshop, assists the maintenance team, as required.

    + Perform other duties assigned.

    Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements

    + Must have a minimum of three (3) years of documented experience within the last five (5) years.

    + Must have NICET I qualification.

    + Must possess all applicable licenses, certifications, and training to perform maintenance and repairs on fire suppression systems.

    + Must be able to read blueprints, electrical and wiring diagrams.

    + Able to use various hand tools and electronic testing equipment.

    + Must possess a working knowledge of NFPA code, Federal and State regulations applicable to their daily responsibilities.

    + Excellent oral and written communication skills

    + Possess a broad knowledge of facility operations and maintenance.

    + Experience with Facility Computerized Maintenance Management System software (CMMS) highly desired.

    Work Environment

    + Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.

    + Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but not to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where the likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
