Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Enterprise Network Architect to join our Enterprise Architecture team.

The primary focus of this role is to lead the strategy, and architecture of large-scale, enterprise-class network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will manage the following key responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

+ Facilitate network architecture and system design discussions and collaborate with cross-functional teams to define business and technical network requirements.

+ Architects and collaborate with Platform Engineering team in building out a strategic network architecture of services and infrastructure solutions for enterprise-level environments, including Campus, Data Center and Cloud networks with LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and SDN capabilities.

+ Partner with Platform Engineering teams to develop transitional architectures and implementation plans that meet Walgreens and Enterprise Architecture’s strategic goals and move us toward target state.

+ Develop strategies for network security and implement best practices to safeguard enterprise network systems.

+ Partner with Platform Engineering teams to develop network visibility and monitoring strategies that will enable performance optimization and enterprise connectivity dependency mapping.

+ Partner with Platform Engineering teams to advise on network equipment selection, configuration, and deployment options that will meet strategic goals.

+ Provide leadership and general guidance to network engineers and other IT personnel.

+ Adjust strategy to take advantage of emerging technology and best practices to ensure the network architecture is future proof.

External Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience in a technical engineering and/or architecture role OR High school / GED and at least 11 years of experience in a technical engineering and/or architecture role

+ At least 6 years of experience developing and implementing Architecture

+ Experience in domain-specific architecture concepts and emerging technologies, such as Infrastructure, Network design, compute/storage, design patterns, , frameworks, mobile and current application architectures, mobile device architectures.

+ Experience creating and promoting guiding development principles and influencing development teams, business users and management in adoption of technical solutions.

+ Experience in at least one of the following platforms, languages and/or related frameworks: Windows, Android, nix, Java, NodeJS (JavaScript, TypeScript)

+ Experience in at least one of the following Cloud providers: Azure, GCP, AWS

+ At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.

+ At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross functional team leadership.

+ Willing to travel up to/at least 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications:

+ In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS), network design methodologies, and best practices.

+ Expertise in SDN (Software-Defined Networking), cloud networking, data center architectures, and network security.

+ Proficient in network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers) and management functionality and tools.

+ Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex network issues.

+ Certifications such as Cisco CCIE, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.

+ Leadership and team management abilities.

+ Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.

+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple work streams simultaneously.

+ Strong project management skills and experience with network lifecycle management.

+ Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid networking solutions.
