Job Description
This is a contracted appointment that may last up to two years in duration. Paid internships occur throughout the State of Michigan.
This position assists the unit in oversight of the construction program to ensure compliance with federal, state and local rules and regulations. Perform sampling, surveying, inspection and testing on active construction projects. Collect field data and prepare project plans, specifications, and estimates for future construction projects. Provide technical assistance as needed to support traffic safety and operations on the highway system. Continuous training including: Aggregate, Hot Mix Asphalt, Concrete Testing, Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control, Density Testing, CPR, etc. Job duties may require exposure to inclement weather and hazardous work environments. Adherence to all safety rules and requirements including wearing personal protective equipment as designated by the department. Assist in Maintaining the Statewide Warranty Administration Database (SWAD). Position may require travel to region wide locations.
