Position Summary
The Director of Student Success provides strategic leadership for student success initiatives across campus, with a focus on first year and new transfer students, and populations with identified gaps in retention, completion, and belonging.
This position is a hands-on leader in the development, implementation, and evaluation of coordinated strategies to improve student outcomes, collaborating with campus partners to track student success indicators and enhance or develop interventions. The Director works across units such as: Residence Life, Academic Affairs, Falcon Links, Veteran Services, Disability Resource Center, Dean of Students, and New Student Registration, to foster student success.
This role also reduces opportunity gaps by strengthening support structures and promoting an inclusive, student-centered environment. The Director supervises and provides strategic direction for Exploratory Advising, Student Support Services ( TRIO ), Academic Coaching, Tutoring Services, the New Student Transition Experience, and EAB Navigate. Professional advisors across campus maintain a coordinated connection to this role to align and advance retention efforts.
Responsibilities
+ Lead strategic planning for the overall unit of student success, aligning resources with institutional priorities.
+ Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
+ Supervise at least 2.0 FTE , managing hiring, evaluation, professional development, and performance.
+ Oversee budgeting and ensure fiscal responsibility.
+ Serve as liaison to internal and external stakeholders, representing student success initiatives.
+ Direct the implementation and integration of EAB Navigate 360 across campus.
+ Lead the New Student Transition Experience, including orientation, first-year experience, peer mentoring, and welcome programs.
+ Strengthen advising practices and assessment, particularly for first- and second-year students, in collaboration with advising staff and academic leadership.
+ Partner with units across Student Affairs and Strategic Enrollment to provide unified and coordinated student support.
+ Connect directly with students to ensure they are getting the student success support they need.
+ Engage faculty, staff, students, and community partners to promote equity and inclusion in student outcomes.
+ Oversee key initiatives including strategic enrollment planning, accreditation efforts, and Complete College America projects.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Required Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree in a related field.
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in higher education.
+ At least 2 years of supervisory experience with professional staff.
+ Experience designing and implementing retention and completion strategies across diverse student groups.
+ Demonstrated leadership with ability to inspire and guide teams.
+ Strong communication skills (oral and written) and relationship-building abilities.
+ Commitment to inclusive, collaborative environments.
+ Experience advancing equity-focused student success strategies.
+ Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Data-informed leadership with a continuous improvement mindset.
+ Familiarity with EAB Navigate 360 or similar CRM systems, and adaptability to new technology.
+ Budget development and management experience.
+ Systems thinking with demonstrated ability to improve cross-unit processes.
