The** **role you’ll contribute:
The Hyperbaric Medical Technician administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients appropriate to the level of his/her medical training as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician. Operates and maintains the hyperbaric chamber(s) and associated systems and equipment. Assists in the delivery of patient care, maintains patient and environmental safety at all times.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
• Both the requesting and covering employee are responsible for the observation and management of the hyperbaric environment and patient safety.
• Observes hyperbaric systems and patient during the course of hyperbaric oxygen treatment at all times. Unusual occurrences must be reported to the hyperbaric physician, hyperbaric safety director and patients' condition recorded in EMR.
• Prepares the hyperbaric chamber equipment, medicine and materials needed for patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
• Operates, maintains and ensures the safety of the hyperbaric facility and all associated systems and equipment. Patient safety and facility safety are the primary goal.
• Before obtaining informed consent for hyperbaric treatment, purpose, procedure, risks and benefits of hyperbaric treatment are discussed with the patient and or legal guardian.
• Care and treatment for the hyperbaric patient is planned to ensure that they are appropriate to the patients need and condition. Hyperbaric Technicians carry out prescribed hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatment protocols as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician.
• Supports Safety Director in maintaining operating, maintenance and safety logs and other required documentation. Signs all logs as specified in departmental policy and procedure.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the hyperbaric oxygen therapy equipment as per department policy.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
• Medical vocation.
• Eligibility to obtain Certified status (CHT) within one year.
• BLS.
