    Job Summary

    We seek an experienced Physical Security Project Manager to coordinate and manage security system projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management principles and security-related projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and compliance with industry standards.

    TheDivision of Public Safety and Security (http://dpss.umich.edu/) (DPSS) leads all public safety functions within the university, including police, security, and emergency management, and offers an integrated approach to safety and security, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. DPSS combines Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint operations to provide students, visitors, faculty, and staff with a safe and secure environment. Through our partnerships across the university and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, we use a blended service model to meet the needs of our community and exceed expectations.

    Responsibilities*

    + In conjunction with the Associate Director, plan, execute, and coordinate physical security projects, including surveillance camera installations, access control, emergency communication, and alarm systems.

    + Manage project scope, timelines, and budgets while ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.

    + Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams to define project requirements and expectations.

    + Collaborate with installation teams and subcontractors, ensuring high-quality workmanship with adherence to campus safety protocols and project timelines.

    + Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to security system installations, including Clery Act and FERPA considerations.

    + Troubleshoot and resolve issues during installation or implementation to minimize disruptions to campus operations.

    + Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and clients regarding project status and milestones.

    + Maintain thorough project documentation, including permits, contracts, and as-built drawings, ensuring alignment with university record-keeping standards.

    + Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within project execution while maintaining the highest security standards.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Bachelors degree in criminal justice, security management, project management, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

    + At least three (3) years of proven experience managing large projects, preferably with a safety or security nexus.

    + Strong leadership, problem-solving, organizational and decision-making skills.

    + Proficiency in project management software and tools.

    + Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and deadlines.

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    + PMP or other project management certification is a plus.

    + Ability to travel between campus locations for project oversight and coordination.

    Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.     All members of DPSS are considered Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. As such, you are required to report anyClery reportable offenses (https://www.clerycenter.org/) that come to your attention. DPSS employees must also complete the Clery Compliance training within 14 days of employment and annually thereafter.
