Caterpillar Defense currently has an opening for a Sales Support Consultant located in Irving, Texas. As **Sales Support Consultant** , you will work with U.S. Government acquisition and end-user communities by developing Caterpillar solutions for machine products and services. This position supports Account Managers with direct machine sales to key Federal Civilian Agency (FCA) and Department of Defense (DoD) customers and assists with achieving delivery of the annual business plan and meeting the contractual obligations of our customers while mitigating enterprise risk.

What You Will Do:
+ Support Account Managers by working with U.S. Government customers, Cat dealers, suppliers, and Caterpillar Machine Business Divisions to provide customer focus by developing Caterpillar solutions that maximize machine sales and profits, markets Caterpillar products and services, and complies with federal contractual obligations.
+ Provide Inside Sales coverage engaging customers, preparing machine quotes, and managing opportunities using Salesforce CRM during execution of the Sales Process from bidding on competitive solicitations through contract award.
+ Support sales team proposal development, and assist with Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) updates for machine products, models, sourcing, pricing, and discounts with standard cost tools that enable Account Managers to be more competitive and achieve better margins.
+ Assist with preparation for FSS end-of-term assessments.
+ Work across functional areas within Caterpillar Defense and collaborate with product groups of every Machine Business Division to provide customer support across FCA, DoD, and other relevant U.S. Government organizations / agencies and U.S. Government contractors that support the mission.
+ Satisfy Caterpillar Defense’s internal and external contractual and regulatory compliance requirements by profitably winning new business the right way.
+ Research and analyze past and future Caterpillar machines sales, industry trends, and competitive landscape that supports development of sales forecasts and business strategies for long term profitable growth.
+ Analyze end-user applications and product configurations to specify equipment solutions that will meet customer needs.
+ Provide analysis and recommend solutions to help resolve customer or dealer service issues and improvement measures.
What You Will Have:
**Customer Focus** (Working Knowledge required): Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions. Ability to leverage customer application expertise in developing machine solutions for our FCA and DoD customers that meets federal contractual obligations while mitigating enterprise risk.
**Industry Knowledge** (Basic Understanding required): Caterpillar machine product knowledge, trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters; ability to apply Caterpillar machine industry knowledge appropriately to diverse situations. Industry background in Engineering, Marketing or Business.
**Decision Making and Critical Thinking** (Working Knowledge required): Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on sound commercial judgment. Assists in assessing risks, benefits and consideration of alternatives.
**Effective Communications** (Working Knowledge Required): Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
**Relationship Management** (Basic Understanding Required): Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships with U.S. Government customers, Cat dealers, suppliers, and Caterpillar Machine Business Divisions.

+ This position requires 5-days-in-the-office work week onsite at Caterpillar Defense in Irving, TX.

Summary Pay Range:
$95,640.00 - $143,520.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
