    Job Summary:

    This specific role will have responsibility for leading and being a team member on multiple projects inside the Cat Digital Connectivity Telecom team. These projects could range from telecom connectivity strategy, country / region specific connectivity, or other types of focused projects related to telecom and telematics solutions. The candidate will be involved with multiple telecommunications carriers and internal Caterpillar organizations to deliver IoT connectivity via satellite and cellular technologies.

    What You Will Do:

    This position is on the Enterprise Connectivity Team within the CAT Digital organization. This team has enterprise accountability for the telematics product line strategy, rationalization, quality, and cost as well as the associated telecommunications. Telecommunications and carrier management includes contracts, rate/cost management, technology expertise, support, and development projects around related technologies and regional deployment. Connected devices and telecom management are critical enablers to our services growth strategy as well as being foundational to the deployment of effective digital solutions for our dealers and customers.

     

    + Daily and weekly management of carrier relationships and activities

    + Involved in negotiation and execution of new carrier contracts and amendments involving Caterpillar procurement and legal for telecom services, pricing adjustments, and operational changes

    + Exploring new IoT, Telecom, and Telematics technologies, analyzing technical , operational, and commercial fit of new technologies and services for Caterpillar, recommending strategies to leadership, and working in conjunction with Connectivity Solutions team on execution

    + Working with our internal regulatory experts to understand and apply technology-, carrier-, and country-specific regulations

    + Guiding telecom projects through the planning, development and validation process providing written and verbal project status updates

    + Understanding, refining and documenting operational, technical, and financial project requirements

    + Work with architecture, onboard and backoffice software, and telematics hardware technical organizations

    + Involved in optimization of telecom expenses

    + Scheduling and leading project team meetings

     

    What You Will Have

    + Demonstrates the value and necessity of linking tactical plans to overall strategic plan.

    + Ensures the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan.

    + Communicates effectively with diverse audiences, using appropriate media and language.

    + Ensures important messages are clearly understood.

    Problem Solving:

    + Organizes potential problem solvers and leads problem resolution efforts.

    + Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate.

    + Analyzes and synthesizes information and devises alternative resolution strategies.

    Program Management:

    + Evaluates risks and vulnerabilities, and creates contingency plans.

    + Conducts regular and ad-hoc program reviews with project managers, team and clients.

    + Oversees reporting requirements, and creates monitoring and control mechanisms.

    Products and Services:

    + Obtains information about product and service linkages with other products and services elsewhere in organization.

    Considerations For Top Candidates:

    + Experience with IoT/Telematics solutions, architecture, business models, etc.

    + Involvement in cellular and/or satellite industries

    + Experience analyzing product or service strategy options, generating business cases, structuring strategy recommendations to leadership

    + Knowledge of emerging technologies, such as 5G SA networks, eSIM Satellite broadband, Non-Terrestrial Networks, and Direct-to-Device services

    + Experience with services contracts and pricing negotiations

    + Familiarity with planning processes such as gathering and deciphering market and technology research and analyst reports, gathering and organizing customer needs and requirements, collaborating with internal technology partners to create a roadmap vision and specific project definitions

    + Knowledge of Caterpillar products, solutions and processes

    + Experience managing complex, technical projects

    Summary Pay Range:

    $144,960.00 - $217,320.00

     

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
