    Pay range : $ 55,600 to $92,000 per year

    About this position:

    The Cultural Resource Specialist will support the utility company's environmental & cultural compliance efforts by identifying, evaluating, and managing cultural and historical resources impacted by infrastructure projects. This role ensures all projects comply with local, state, and federal preservation laws and regulations.

    About this job:

    + Plan and conduct cultural resource investigations, including archival studies, field surveys, and/or excavations, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and regulations for proposed utility projects

    + Comply with FERC license requirements for cultural resources including annual reporting to FERC and SHPO

    + Implement Programmatic Agreements and Historic Properties Management Plans

    + Evaluate properties for National Register of Historic Places eligibility and prepare relevant documentation (including but not limited to site forms)

    + Manage, develop and/or update existing plans for properties currently listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places

    + Prepare and submit detailed technical reports and findings of effect

    + Collaborate with stakeholders, including SHPOs, Native American tribes, and agencies, to develop and where feasible implement impact mitigation plans for cultural resources

    + Ensure compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), the Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA), and other relevant regulations

    + Prepare reports, environmental assessments, and compliance documents under Section 106 and other federal directives

    + Manage subcontractors and consultants involved in cultural resource studies

    + Develop work scope and budgets for cultural compliance for multiple utility projects

    + Maintain database of work completed, correspondence, and other notes to track project progress and completion

    + Provide training and guidance to utility company staff on cultural resource awareness and preservation

    Am I right for this job? Here's the success profile:

     

    + Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History, or a related field

    + Minimum of 3 years of experience in cultural resource management, with an emphasis in historic architecture and/or industrial resources preferred

    + Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding cultural resources

    + Experience conducting fieldwork, site documentation, and reporting

    + Ability to analyze and interpret field-collected data

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills

    + Proficiency in GIS and other relevant software is a plus

    + Ability to work outdoors in various environmental conditions and terrains

    + Experience working on utility or infrastructure projects preferred

    + Familiarity with consultation processes with tribal nations preferred

    + Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
