Required Skills:

Production Engineer Responsibilities:

1. Develop, design, create, modify, and/or test software services to ensure optimal performance and capacity for growth.

2. Own back-end data warehouse services, front-end services like Messenger and Newsfeed, and infrastructure components to ensure services run without incident.

3. Write and review code, develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug problems in real time in highly complex software systems.

4. Serve as an escalation contact for service incidents.

5. Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

6. Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

7. 5% domestic travel required.

8. Requires a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field.

9. Requires completion of a university-level course, internship or research project in the following:

10. UNIX or Linux operating system fundamentals

11. TCP/IP network fundamentals

12. Coding in at least one of the following higher-level programming languages: PHP, Python, C++, or Java

13. Software frameworks and APIs

14. Performing 'guerilla capacity planning' for internet service architectures

15. Internet service architectures (such as load balancing, LAMP, or CDN’s)

16. Configuring and maintaining applications using at least one of the following: web servers, load balancers, relational databases, storage systems, or messaging systems

17. Relational Databases like MySQL or Postgres

18. Network protocols including at least one of the following: NFS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, or SNMP

19. Maintaining web-based applications using at least one of the following: Apache, Memecached, or Squid

20. Storage Systems including NFS

21. Network Management tools like DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, or SNMP and

22. Experience utilizing high performance query engines (Presto or Spark) for big data.

Public Compensation:

$228,512/year to $240,240/year + bonus + equity + benefits
