Volvo Group North America is seeking a Director to lead our Special Vehicle Development (SVD) and Mack Medium Duty (MMD) teams located in Greensboro, NC, Roanoke, VA, and Macungie, PA.
What you will do
Reporting to the Vice President of Vehicle Engineering, we are looking for a visionary leader who can inspire and engage high-performing teams in product planning and execution throughout the product life cycle. The ideal candidate will have a structured way of working and the ability to see the overall big picture. Included in the scope of this role is the creation of the product strategy and requirements, development and execution of tactical plans, and maintaining product and market knowledge.
Responsibilities
+ Responsible and accountable for development and quality assurance plan of the Special Vehicle Solutions for Volvo Trucks and Mack Medium Duty.
+ Be updated on the product performance in various markets and segments, and evaluate new and existing technologies and incorporate into products according to defined product strategies.
+ Deliver modifications, maintenance and adaptations with high performance on Time to Market, quality and customer satisfaction.
+ Continuously support the Volvo Trucks and Mack organization, and be pro-active in proposing product solutions.
+ Team-up cross-functionally with product development, production, purchasing functions and Volvo and Mack Trucks
+ Drive the Engineering agenda and roadmap for the Special Vehicle and Mack Medium Duty areas.
+ Lead and develop people, organization and knowhow within the department.
+ Contribute in harmonization and development of processes, methods, tools and standards globally.
+ Drive for lean and efficient development, and for results.
+ Nurture and maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors to ensure that world class product quality is upheld throughout the production process.

The Group Trucks Technology Vehicle Engineering team secures our customers’ success by leading and professional development of the Volvo Trucks North America and Mack vehicles. As product owners we develop the most attractive and profitable heavy duty truck solutions in the industry. We work as one development team: supporting each other to secure delivery according to decided product plan, and we proactively recommend new technologies for future customer needs.

Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Masters preferred specifically in business or technologies/sciences.
+ Relevant experience in the transportation industry including leading teams with proven results.
+ Proven cross-functional leader.
+ Experience as line manager in a global environment is preferred.
+ Skilled and technically strong within all aspects of the value chain.
+ Proven ability to work through collaboration, driving engagement, instilling trust and building effective teams.

+ This position is located in Greensboro, NC.
+ The position is required to manage across multiple locations including Greensboro, NC, Roanoke, VA, and Macungie, PA. This will require travel up to 50% depending on business requirements and to facilitate the team’s success.
