    Preferred Qualifications

    Role Purpose

     

    Provide individualized Art Therapy sessions to children and teenagers within a hospital setting. Working within an interdisciplinary team, the Art Therapist will provide individual or small group sessions to support the socioemotional needs of patients who are admitted for ongoing medical care. Within the Art Therapist role, art therapy will be used to promote wellness, manage stress, express feelings, improve communication and promote coping with illness, injury, disability and hospital/healthcare experiences.

    Responsibilities

    + Provides therapeutic programming to improve the emotional functioning and coping needs of patients.

    + Develops, implements and evaluates art therapy programming in a variety of settings.

    + Coordinates work schedule and assignments with unit and Child Life Staff.

    + Assesses and reassesses the patients' condition and response to treatment then records and reports patient progress.

    + Supervises Art Therapy interns, practicum students and volunteers as necessary.
