    Job Description

    The James C. Morriss Division of Engineering at Texas A&M University–Texarkana (TAMUT) invites applications for a non-tenure-track Lecturer position in Computer Engineering, beginning Fall 2025. This is a temporary, 10-month, on-campus appointment. The position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the foundational growth of the Computer Engineering program at TAMUT.

     

    The successful candidate will primarily focus on teaching undergraduate Computer/Electrical Engineering courses, developing and delivering high-quality instruction, and supporting student learning and academic success. Additional responsibilities may include student advising, curriculum enhancement, participation in recruitment and outreach activities, and support for teaching laboratory development.

     

    A Master’s degree in Computer, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field is required; a Ph.D. is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, and a collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary academic programs.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Teach courses in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering, as well as any foundational engineering courses related to the candidate's expertise, as needed by the Engineering Division

    + Act as an agent for student recruiting and retention

    + Perform any assigned duties related to assessment and ABET accreditation, as well as college-level service

    + Design and establish instructional labs that expand the existing curriculum, working with industry and community partners to prepare students for the workforce.

    + Participate in activities serving the Engineering Division, college, university, and community.

    + Advise students on academic and career matters.

    + Participate in outreach activities to promote the computer engineering program and engage with the community.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Master’s degree in computer or electrical engineering, or a related field.

    + Ability to cover courses and labs in the following areas: Embedded Systems (Microcontroller programming and digital systems design)

    + A minimum of two years of effective teaching experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    + A Ph.D. in computer or electrical engineering

    + Ability to teach across the curriculum in one or more sub-disciplines, including computer networks, machine learning, programming for engineers, embedded systems, semiconductor design, computer architecture, and other related fields.

    + Previous experience delivering courses in multiple modalities—including online, face-to-face, and hybrid—using learning management systems such as Canvas.

    + Demonstrated ability to engage in outreach activities to promote the computer engineering program

    + Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
