Job Description
An employer is looking for a Sr. Mainframe Developer for a remote, direct-hire opportunity. The client is a leading insurance holding company who provides protection, retirement income and reinsurance solutions through its subsidiaries. The Mainframe Developer will apply expertise in programming procedures to complex technical subject matter, recommends the redesign of programs, investigates and analyzes feasibility and program requirements and develops technical specifications.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Crafting Cutting-Edge Solutions: developing pioneering systems and technical solutions, adhering to industry-standard procedures, and leveraging best practices and techniques to drive innovation forward.
Empowering Users: providing crucial user and client support, offering guidance and training during implementation phases. You'll keenly assess training needs and recommend tailored solutions to ensure smooth transitions.
Guiding the Software Lifecycle: From inception to implementation, you'll manage the entire software development lifecycle with precision. This involves thorough analysis, meticulous specification design, coding, rigorous testing, seamless implementation, and comprehensive training.
Architecting Complex Applications: Dive deep into the intricacies of business processes, understanding client needs inside out to design, develop, and support applications for complex systems. Your solutions will be the backbone of streamlined operations.
Driving Maintenance and Support: Expect to coordinate or directly perform maintenance and support tasks for systems requiring intricate application modifications and enhancements. You'll adeptly navigate mainframe, client-server, and web-based applications to ensure optimal performance.
Delivering Technical Excellence: Your commitment to technical accuracy will shine as you provide invaluable client data support, delivering custom reports, download files, and other essential products with precision and efficiency.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: As a key team member, you'll contribute to the collective knowledge base by developing and maintaining meticulous documentation for applications, systems, processes, and operating instructions, ensuring clarity and continuity.

Skills and Requirements
7-9+ years overall experience in software development
Strong, proven experience with DXC product suite (wmA, Vantage/VantageOne, GPA and RPS)
Strong, proven experience with core IBM Mainframe tools (DB2, Xpediter, JCLs, COBOL, etc.)
Flexible must be comfortable with a production support environment where tasks and priorities can change
Able to both effectively work independently and collaborate with others from the team/organization Experience in the annuities space
Experience with DXC PerformancePlus
Knowledge of cohort products like Bonus Workbench and Compensation Designer null
