    Operations Supervisor - 2nd shift

     

    Nidec Minster Corporation has an immediate opening for an Operations Supervisor - Machining - 2nd shift , whose primary function will be to maintain a safe work environment, provide supervision, and achieve company goals and objectives in the machining area. This position will require strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills in supervising a workforce within a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment. Knowledge and experience in leading large CNC heavy fabrication machining operations and/or mechanical/electrical assembly is desired.

    Job Responsibilities:

    + Supervise and coordinate the activities of 2nd shift employees, equipment and processes across Nidec Minster's large CNC machining/fabrication operations.

    + Monitor production performance and drive KPI metric results such as Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

    + Ensure 2nd shift employee engagement and accountability are maintained at a high level.

    + Collaborate with other department personnel, such as engineering, quality, logistics, etc. to coordinate production activities and quickly resolve issues that may arise.

    + Provide highly effective communication with personnel from multifunctional groups and within all levels of the Company.

    + Ensure customer satisfaction with all internal and external customers is achieved.

    + Support operations with strong working knowledge of machinery and equipment capabilities, blueprints, metrology methods, and setup procedures.

    + Assist employees with troubleshooting of processes and/or equipment issues and ensure resources are available, escalating issues as needed.

    + Drive direct labor utilization and efficiency while effectively controlling indirect labor activities in achieving productivity targets.

    + Set job assignments for employees and prioritize work appropriately across multiple functional areas by following production schedules.

    + Train and develop employees to enhance their skills and capabilities while providing feedback and performance evaluations.

    + Drive a continuous improvement culture by motivating employees to participate in process improvement initiatives and eliminating waste efforts.

    + Any other duties, as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + High school diploma is required, technical degree desired

    + 5-7 years supervisory experience working with skilled machinists' and leading a skilled workforce is required.

    + Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a manufacturing environment are required.

    + Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are required.

    + Must be able to multitask in an environment where priorities are fluid.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing software systems are desirable.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Associate and/or bachelor's degree in an engineering, business and/or technical discipline is preferred.

    + Proven working knowledge and experience supervising employees operating CNC machines, manual mills, lathes, drills, etc. is desired.

    + Proven working knowledge and experience supervising employees that build mechanical equipment and have skills such as hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, blueprints, metrology and/or assembly procedures is desired.

    + Working knowledge with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) or training is preferred.

    + Continuous Improvement/ Lean experience, including 6S is preferred.

    + The ability to travel both domestically and internationally for short time periods, is preferred.
