We’re seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to develop cutting-edge, ruggedized military hardware to support operations via air, land, or sea. Our department focuses on tightly integrated, compact sensing and computing technologies to deliver mission critical information. Our products have been deployed and proven across all seven continents in the harshest environments on the planet.
This role will be to design and validate mechanical design solutions for advanced ground vehicle and airborne electronics for military applications. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in cradle-to-grave product development with strong emphasis on test and validation of hardware to MIL standards (e.g. -810H, -461G, RTCA DO-160). The successful candidate will demonstrate out-of-the-box creativity and a passion for mechanical design along with a knack for hands-on building and testing. This role will also have the opportunity for career growth into technical management, if desired.
This is an on-site role located in Torrance, CA.
Responsibilities:
+ Perform as the lead responsible Mechanical Engineer on multi-disciplinary product teams.
+ Design, analyze, and test sensors and integrated electronics with an emphasis on the successful transition of the design to production.
+ Lead, and be the subject matter expert for, environmental testing (dynamics, thermal, etc.) for strategic programs in the company.
+ Interface with customers as a technical lead during regular meetings and milestone reviews.
+ Perform structural and thermal analyses for strategic programs to ensure ruggedness and survivability of products during the design stage.
+ Identify technical issues, propose solutions, and ensure appropriate action is taken to resolve the technical issues.
+ Train and mentor other Mechanical Engineers in analysis and validation testing to further develop the in-house knowledge base.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills:
+ B.S. or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
+ 12+ years of design and test experience in a product development capacity focused on aerospace or military systems.
+ 5+ years of experience with structural and thermal simulation packages (SolidWorks, ANSYS).
+ Advanced proficiency in solid modeling using SolidWorks (preferred), Pro-E, or CATIA
+ Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and production processes for Aerospace or military electronics.
+ Strong understanding in the use of GD&T in producing part and assembly manufacturing drawings.
+ Well versed in a variety of manufacturing processes, including machining, rapid prototyping, injection molding, laser cutting, et c.
+ Ability to design out of the box with minimal input.
+ Self-starter and be willing to take full responsibility in delivering a quality product.

Pay Range:
$135,000-$190,000 annually
However, base salary for this position will vary based on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
