    Job Title: Talent Acquisition Recruiter

     

    Department: Human Resources

     

    Reports To: VP of Human Resources

     

    FLSA Status: Exempt

     

    Office Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm

    Position Summary:

    The Talent Acquisition Recruiter is responsible for full-cycle recruitment of drivers, monitors, mechanics, and administrative personnel, while also leading recruitment analytics to support hiring strategy and operational staffing goals. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the school bus company attracts, hires, and retains top talent, while providing data-driven insights to improve talent pipeline performance, reduce time-to-fill, and forecast staffing needs. The ideal candidate will combine strong talent acquisition skills with a sharp analytical mindset to support organizational growth and operational excellence in a dynamic transportation environment.

    Talent Acquisition & Sourcing

    • Manage the full recruitment life cycle, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.

    • Perform full life cycle recruitment, including sourcing strategy development, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, onboarding, and determination of screening criteria, execution of screening, identification, coordination of marketing campaigns, interviewing, and collaboration with HR and the Hiring Manager through offer completion.

    • Maintain communication with the candidate, business leadership, and others to perform these tasks effectively and efficiently

    • Develop individualized sourcing strategies for the markets supported and execute appropriately. Strategies include but are not limited to cold calling, building networks, leveraging LinkedIn/Indeed/job boards, University and Trade School engagement, and relationships with passive candidates

    • Develop and maintain candidate pipelines for high-demand roles such as CDL drivers and mechanics.

    • Develop and execute proactive recruitment strategies to attract qualified drivers, monitors, mechanics, safety managers, and administrative staff.

    • Partner with hiring managers to define staffing needs, timelines, and role requirements.

    • Maintain and build pipelines of qualified candidates for high-demand positions such as CDL drivers.

    • Represent the company at job fairs, CDL training schools, community events, and virtual recruiting events.

    • Coordinate pre-employment processes, including background checks, drug screenings, and DMV testing. Ensure all recruitment activities comply with DOT regulations, state licensing requirements, and internal safety standards.

    • Create and maintain positive candidate experiences throughout the hiring journey.

    Analytics & Reporting

    • Track and report recruitment metrics including time-to-fill, source of hire, turnover rates, onboarding conversion, driver shortages, and cost-per-hire and branch staffing levels.

    • Analyze recruiting trends and provide insights to adjust strategies and reduce talent gaps across branches.

    • Maintain recruiting dashboards and present data to HR leadership for workforce planning and forecasting.

    • Generate regular HR reports and dashboards for leadership on hiring trends, staffing forecasts, retention rates, and compliance metrics.

    • Monitor and report on EEO, diversity, and hiring compliance metrics.

    • Support process improvements in applicant tracking, onboarding efficiency, and candidate engagement using data insights.

    • Support workforce planning initiatives by identifying gaps, turnover hotspots, and recommending staffing strategies.

    • Analyze onboarding bottlenecks, applicant drop-off rates, and develop data-driven solutions to improve the candidate’s experience.

    Required Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong sourcing techniques via job boards, social media, CDL schools, and local outreach.

    • Ability to interpret recruitment data and translate it into actionable workforce solutions.

    • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of staff.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and HR systems (ATS/HRIS).

    • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and follow-up skills.

    • Familiarity with school bus transportation hiring standards, CDL/DOT compliance preferred.

    • High attention to detail, particularly in compliance-related processes (background checks, licensing, drug testing).

    • Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), HRIS systems, and Excel reporting tools.

    • Proven experience as a innovative problem-solver in talent acquisition or a similar role.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships with candidates and stakeholders at all levels.

    • Proficiency in navigating high-volume requisitions and managing competing priorities with urgency

    • Ad Hoc duties as needed.

    • Provide backup coverage to other HR team members as needed

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources , Business, or related field preferred.

    • Four to six (4-6) years of experience in recruiting or talent acquisition.

    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in HR data reporting or analytics preferred.

    • Experience recruiting for CDL or transportation roles a plus.

    • Experience working with CDL driver recruiting, background checks, and DOT compliance highly desirable.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands:

    • Requires travel to branches for onboarding and recruitment events, CDL schools, etc (10–20% travel).

    • Typical office environment with occasional on-site visits to transportation facilities. THIS IS NOT A HYBRID OR REMOTE ROLE.

    • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods during career events or branch visits.
