    Respiratory Therapist (RRT),CardiopulmonaryDepartment

    Job Type:Full-time,MidShift

     

    Examines patients with breathing-related conditions and conducts diagnostic testing. Consults with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient. Performs physiotherapy and other treatments and teaches patients to use medications.

    Core competencies include, but are not limited to the following:

    * Measures lungcapacityand analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.

    * Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition asappropriate.

    * Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.

    * Responds to codes and calls foremergentassistance. Assesses patient condition and deliversappropriate treatment.

    * Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.

    * Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.

    * Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.

    * Operates electrophysiology/cardiac stress test equipment to perform clinical diagnostic electrophysiologic/cardiac stress test exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices.

    Associate’s degree in discipline or equivalent, or completion of a Respiratory Therapy Certification Program:

    The below certifications will be required at the time of hire:

    X Basic Life Support (BLS)

    The below certifications will be required within 6 months of hire or when transferring into a new department with these certifications:

    X Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

    X Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)

    Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
