Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our client's team in Overland Park, Kansas. In this role, you will play an integral part in ensuring the financial success of various projects by managing billing processes, coordinating with project teams, and maintaining accurate financial records. This is a long-term contract position ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

• Review client and consultant contracts to understand terms before initiating project implementation.

• Process project initialization requests, including system setup, work order approvals, and coordination with sub-consultants.

• Manage sub-consultant invoicing, fee approvals, and ensure supporting documentation is completed accurately.

• Generate monthly financial reports to analyze project performance, including aging receivables and outstanding consultant invoices.

• Collaborate with project teams to address contract changes, purchase orders, and billing approvals.

• Participate in regular project reviews to ensure accurate revenue reporting and investigate financial variances.

• Follow up on outstanding receivables and maintain communication with project teams regarding billing concerns.

• Oversee financial management throughout the project lifecycle, including project close-out.

• Support the accounting team with additional tasks such as billing, reporting, and filing as needed.

• Handle other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor to address unexpected needs or challenges.

Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in project accounting or billing, preferably within service-oriented or engineering firms.

• Proficiency in accrual accounting practices and project accounting processes.

• Familiarity with accounting software systems such as Deltek (Ajera) or Unanet/AE.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines.

• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, self-driven approach to work.

• Detail-oriented with a commitment to confidentiality and problem-solving abilities.
