    Job Summary:

    My client is a growing federal contractor. They are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Accounting Manager with a demonstrated background in government defense contracting. This role requires expertise in GAAP compliance, financial reporting, and managing day-to-day accounting operations while ensuring adherence to federal contracting regulations. The Accounting Manager will play a vital role in supporting monthly and annual consolidated financial reporting requirements, implementing efficient processes, and maintaining internal controls.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    + Accounting Operations Management: Oversee the daily activities related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger operations

    + Month-End and Year-End Close: Lead month-end financial statement preparations, including journal entry reviews, balance sheet reconciliations, and updating financial reporting systems

    + Compliance and Tax Support: Collaborate with the company controller to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations, specifically focusing on government defense contracting requirements

    + Process Improvement: Implement and document new processes and internal controls to enhance the accuracy of financial reporting and operational efficiencies

    + Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support leadership across the organization, promoting streamlined processes and alignment with operational goals

    + Ad Hoc Financial Analysis: Work alongside FP& A to conduct financial and operational analysis, helping drive sound business decisions

    + System Implementation: Actively participate in the implementation and optimization of Microsoft Dynamics, Business Central software, ensuring a smooth transition and adaptation to automated systems

    Requirements

    Your Qualifications:

    + Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA designation is preferred

    + Experience:

    + Minimum of 6 years in accounting roles, preferably with federal government contractors or defense technology firms

    + Experience in public accounting is a plus, showcasing ability to navigate complex accounting environments.

    + Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, familiarity with accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics (Business Central) or QuickBooks and demonstrated process improvement abilities

    + Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP; prior expertise with federal acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS) and cost accounting standards (CAS) is highly preferred

    + Clearance Eligibility: Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government-issued security clearance

    + Soft Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal capabilities, with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments in a fast-paced environment
