Description
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate payroll processing, compliance with regulations, and timely responses to employee inquiries. Responsibilities:
+ Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll cycles, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
+ Maintain and update payroll data, including employee status changes, deductions, tax withholdings, and benefits.
+ Review timekeeping systems for accuracy and address discrepancies promptly.
+ Prepare payroll reports and provide detailed analysis when requested by management.
+ Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, retroactive pay, and other payroll adjustments.
+ Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and payroll regulations.
+ Process garnishments, levies, child support, and other deductions.
+ Assist in year-end payroll functions, including preparing and distributing W-2s and other tax documentation.
+ Collaborate with HR to ensure smooth onboarding and offboarding of employees from a payroll perspective.
+ Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, balances, and withholdings.
+ Support audits by providing payroll-related data and documentation as requested.
Requirements
+ Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
+ 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
+ Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or other industry-standard platforms).
+ Excellent knowledge of payroll taxes, compliance regulations, and reporting standards.
+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, etc.).
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under deadlines.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for resolving payroll queries and collaborating across departments.
+ Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus but not required.
