Description
We are looking for a dedicated Payroll Clerk to join our team on a long-term contract basis in DTLA. This role is integral to ensuring accurate payroll processing, compliance reporting, and maintaining confidential employee records within the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and a thorough understanding of payroll systems and accounting processes.
Responsibilities:
• Manage onboarding for new construction union employees, including safety training and project orientation.
• Prepare and submit new employee paperwork for entry into the HR data system.
• Process weekly payroll and post entries accurately and on time.
• Generate weekly payroll compliance reports, including Certified Payrolls using appropriate tracking systems.
• Apply payroll transaction rules in JD Edwards and ensure account coding accuracy for payroll entries.
• Calculate credits for owner-controlled insurance programs related to general liability and workers' compensation.
• Collaborate effectively with Payroll, Corporate Accounting, and Division Finance teams to resolve issues and meet deadlines.
• Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies, including payment errors and adjustments.
• Organize and maintain project records and reports through scanning, copying, and filing.
• Handle confidential employee information with discretion and professionalism.
Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing or a related field.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, or Dayforce.
• Strong knowledge of payroll functions, including accounts payable and auditing.
• Familiarity with benefit functions and payroll compliance reporting.
• Experience with Certified Payroll processes and union regulations.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities within cross-functional teams.
