    Description

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    Under general supervision performs a variety of routine laboratory operations in a microbiology laboratory. Duties usually consist of setting samples for microbial testing; making dilutions of food and environmental samples, setting samples for pathogens testing.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Performs laboratory work according to prescribed standards.

    + Determines microbial loads in food and environmental samples.

    + Sets up, and operates laboratory equipment and instruments.

    + Analyzes samples. Performs laboratory tests according to prescribed standards

    + Tests samples to verify conformity to specifications. Records test results.

    + Cleans laboratory equipment.

    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

    **EDUCATION:** Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).

    **EXPERIENCE:** Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of DIRECTLY RELATED experience.
