Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Heritage Club on Robins AFB, GA. Flexible employees have no guaranteed hours, but may work up to 40 hours per week. This position does not offer benefits. Must be available to work irregular hours to include weekends and Holidays. Must complete a Food Handler's training within 30 days of employment. Responsibilities In Event Activity: Discuss menu with supervisor and familiarizes self with menu prior to opening. Set up of banquet room, buffets, specialty tables, etc. in accordance with event calendar. Secures clean linen and silverware and other table setup requirements. Sets assigned tables, spreading clean linen and placing glasses, condiment holders, flowers, candles or lamps, and silverware on table. Prepares side tables with silverware, bowls of ice and other extras that may be required during the meal. Receives guests and takes orders. Writes guests' orders, answers questions regarding food and beverages or makes suggestions about dishes and beverages. Secures food from kitchen and places dishes in front of guests for plated services or at buffet tables for buffet services while using catering equipment such as chafing dishes. Continues to provide service as needed by guests throughout the event. Following completion of meal, gives check to guest, who may pay cashier or the waiter or elect to sign the dining room guest check when authorized. Removes soiled dishes, glassware and silverware ensuring event room is fully bussed and cleaned following events. May perform cleaning duties as time permits, such as sweeping, mopping, and so forth, in assigned area, or cleaning entryways. May perform dishwashing or other functions in an emergency. Assist food preparation by stocking ingredient stations or preparation of dressings or sauces. Makes coffee, tea or other beverages for dining service. Helps in setting up service bars and portable bars for events. Carries debris to waste containers. May serve wine, bottle beer, soft drinks and draw beer from kegs. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience or training in proper food handling and serving techniques. Knowledge of food menu items and wine selection for various foods sufficient to explain to customer. Must be able to follow cash handling procedures, make simple mathematical computations, and prepare checks for patrons. Must be physically able to stand, stoop, bend, and walk for long periods of time. Must be able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement for serving alcoholic beverages. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal Affiliation.
