THE POSITION
**Reporting Structure:** The Senior Vice President – Market Development & Strategy reports to the President of Flatbed Solutions
Role and Responsibilities
The Senior Vice President – Market Development & Strategy leads business development efforts for CRST’s asset-light division, overseeing agent development, brokerage, field sales, and account management teams. This executive role is responsible for accelerating growth across flatbed, van, and brokerage markets by driving strategic initiatives, expanding key partnerships, and identifying new market opportunities to double revenue over the next three years. Reporting directly to the President, the SVP shapes commercial strategy and performance across CRST’s agent and contractor networks.
Key responsibilities include:
+ **Strategic Leadership:** Develop and execute a business development strategy to grow agent partnerships, carrier networks, and customer accounts across flatbed, van, and brokerage markets
+ **Market Expansion:** Identify high-growth markets, lead expansion efforts, and evaluate opportunities including potential acquisitions or service line enhancements
+ **Customer Development:** Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, agents, and independent contractors to ensure long-term service excellence and retention
+ **Executive Presence:** Serve as a key face of the asset-light division, representing CRST at the highest levels with integrity, credibility, and professionalism
+ **Team Oversight:** Provide executive direction to agent development, brokerage, field sales, and account management teams to ensure alignment with growth goals and market strategy
+ **Talent Development:** Recruit, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
+ Operational Partnership: Work cross-functionally with the President and senior leadership to address strategic challenges and execute operational improvements
+ **Financial Acumen:** Use data to inform decisions, manage business lines with financial discipline, and drive performance in a high-growth, performance-driven environment
+ **Innovation & Process Improvement:** Introduce best practices and innovative solutions to improve efficiency, execution, and customer satisfaction
+ **Accountability & Reliability:** Maintain regular and reliable attendance while performing other duties as assigned to support team and business needs
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; relevant certifications and/or advanced education considered favorable
+ Executive leadership experience within a transportation or logistics organization generating $200-$300M+ in revenue
Skills and Expertise:
+ Deep understanding of asset-light, agent based and owner-operator business models (flatbed experience preferred)
+ Proven success in building and executing commercial strategies that drive sustainable growth and operational excellence
+ Strong ability to manage business metrics, drive performance, and lead with data
+ Familiarity with transportation management systems and CRM tools
Preferred Experience:
+ Ability to set direction, influence change, and align teams around common goals
+ Constantly seeking new growth opportunities and process improvements
+ Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills; executive presence
+ High ethical standards with a track record of building trust across teams and partners
