Job Description:

A Brief OverviewCMA: Provides accurate and timely information to visitors and callers. Responsibilities include pre-certifying with insurance companies, filing, scheduling, maintaining records in the Electronic Medical Record system, processing patient specimens, and direct patient care. This role assists providers with office procedures. Administrative tasks include scheduling appointments, billing, coding, and maintaining medical records. Clinical duties include taking and recording vital signs, documenting medical histories, preparing patients for exams, drawing blood, and administering medications under physician or advanced practice provider direction. Adaptability to varied tasks is essential.

LPN: Assists medical provider in the care and treatment of patients with a variety of illnesses. Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check, and operate equipment. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patient for examination, and administering medication as directed by provider.

ATC: Preventing, evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating injuries in athletes/patients, working closely with coaches, medical staff and physicians to ensure athletes/patients can safely return to competition/work by providing emergency care, developing injury prevention programs, and managing rehabilitation plans for injured athletes/patients. Show patients to examination rooms, verify name, date of birth and address. Prepare patient for physician by obtaining medical history, vitals, updating medications, allergy list and retrieving information such as tests, etc. at each visit. Assist physicians examine and treat patients, by handing them instruments or materials to perform such tasks as removing sutures or dressing changes. Prepare and administer medications, braces, cast and splints as directed by a physician. Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing. Assist physicians in the operating room by assisting with draping, holding retractors, suctioning, cutting suture, applying dressings Explain and educate treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients. Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies according to provider guidelines. Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission. CMA:

+ Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.

+ Change dressings on wounds.

+ Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.

+ Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.

+ Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission.

+ Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients.

+ Help physicians or physician assistant examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.

+ Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.

+ Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies and equipment.

+ Collect co-pays, coinsurance, and past due balances and record transactions.

+ Operate equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.

+ Perform general office duties such as answering telephones or completing insurance forms.

+ Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.

+ Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician or physician assistant.

+ Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.

+ Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, and information such as test results in medical records.

+ Schedule appointments for patients.

+ Set up medical laboratory equipment.

+ Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.

LPN:

+ Regular and reliable attendance.

+ Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.

+ Prepare patients for, and assist with, examinations and treatments.

+ Assess the needs of individuals, families or communities, including assessment of individuals' home or work environments to identify potential health or safety problems.

+ Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.

+ Direct and coordinate infection control programs, advising and consulting with specified personnel about necessary precautions.

+ Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained.

+ Instruct individuals, families and other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention and childbirth, and develop health improvement programs.

+ Conduct specified laboratory tests.

+ Record patients' medical information and vital signs.

ATC:

+ Assess, evaluate and rehabilitate athletes/patients physical and mental abilities, review available medical record, and analyze medical data to determine realistic athletic training goals for athletes/patients.

+ Plan, organize and conduct athletic training programs in hospital, outpatient clinic, institutional or community setting to rehabilitate athletes/patients impaired due to illness, injury or psychological or developmental problems.

+ Select activities that will help athletes’/patients' skill, agility, function & readiness to play, and life-management skills within limits of their mental and physical capabilities.

+ Evaluate athletes'/patients' progress and prepare reports that detail progress.

+ Complete and maintain necessary records.

+ Education and train caregivers how to provide for the needs of an athlete/patient during and after therapy.

+ Recommend changes in athletes/patients practice, school, work or living environments, consistent with their needs and capabilities.

+ Develop and participate in health promotion programs, group activities, or discussions to promote health, facilitate social adjustment, alleviate stress, and prevent physical or mental disability.

+ Consult with your team to select activity programs and coordinate athletic training program with other therapeutic activities or programs.

+ Plan and implement programs and social activities to help athletes/patients learn work and school skills and adjust to impairments.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

CMA:

+ H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

+ Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants Required

+ 1-3 years experience in a medical office Preferred

+ Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.

+ Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.

+ Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

+ The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

+ The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

LPN:

+ One Year Certificate from College or Tech School Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Required

+ 1-3 years Health care experience Preferred
