    Description

    Comunilife is looking for experienced Housing Navigator to fill open position for their Casa El Faro Emergency Family Shelter in the Bronx. The Comunilife Housing Navigator is responsible for actively assisting individuals and families experiencing homelessness in locating and maintaining affordable permanent housing. The Housing Navigator conducts comprehensive housing related assessments, assisting the family in identifying appropriate housing options and advocates on the behalf of the family with landlords and other housing management agencies. The Housing Navigator must be able to coordinate supportive services to ensure housing stability. The Housing Navigator is required to have a strong understanding of local housing resources, eligibility criteria, and relevant regulations.The positions offer a generous benefit package including health insurance, dental, vision, dependent care, paid time off, 401(k), tuition assistance program and more.

    Schedule:

    Tues.-Sat. 10am-6pm

    Essential Duties

    + Client Intake and Assessment

    + Complete a thorough Housing packet with families to assess housing needs, financial situation, barriers to housing, and eligibility for various housing programs.

    + Housing Search and Placement:

    + Identify potential housing options based on client needs and availability, including utilizing online listings, landlord networks, and community partnerships.

    + Application Assistance:

    + Assist clients in completing rental applications, gathering required documentation, and addressing any credit or background concerns.

    + Landlord Communication:

    + Communicate with landlords and management companies to negotiate lease terms, advocate for clients, and address any issues that may arise.

    + Case Management:

    + Develop individualized housing stability plans, track client progress, and provide ongoing support throughout the housing search and placement process.

    + Resource Coordination:

    + Connect clients with necessary supportive services including but not limited to financial assistance, employment training, mental health counseling, and substance abuse treatment programs.

    + Community Outreach:

    + Build relationships with local housing providers, community organizations, and government agencies remaining informed about available housing options and rental assistance opportunities.

    + Data Management:

    + Maintain accurate client records, including housing applications, progress notes, and required documentation within the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), CARES and AWARDS.

    Qualifications

    Required knowledge skills and abilities:

    + Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a related field preferred

    + 2-4 year’s experience in related fields.

    + Experience working with homelessness or housing instability

    + Experience working with clients experiencing multiple barriers Knowledge of the local housing market, eligibility criteria for housing assistance programs, and relevant housing laws and regulations. i.e. HRA 2010E, CITYFHEPS, SODA, HASA, ESHI process

    + Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients, landlords, and community partners

    + Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage a caseload effectively

    + Proficiency in computer applications for data entry and case management
