Summary:
Leverages technical knowledge and industry experience to design, build and maintain technology solutions.
Job Responsibilities:
• Perform design tasks and develop components of application and technical architecture
• Develop test cases and data
• Execute tests for the application or technical architecture components, work with other programmers, designers, and architects to meet application requirements and performance goals, participate in code reviews, inform the technical architect and project manager of any issues that may affect any other areas of the project, fix any defects and performance problems discovered in testing, document the application to facilitate maintenance.
• Assists with selecting appropriate platforms, integrates and configures solutions.
• Develops software components and hardware for new and emerging technology projects; aligns these with business strategies and objectives.
• May provide consultation on common issues and best practices for junior staff.
• Provides a systematic analysis on client requirements within the traceability framework and resolves any functional problems encountered.
• Ensures quality of project deliverables while maintaining compliance with relevant standards and processes.

• Basic ability to work independently and manage ones time.
• Basic knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery.
• Basic ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue.
• Basic knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software.
• Knowledge of computer development software across multiple platforms.
Education/Experience:
• High School Degree and Bachelors degree (computer science, software engineering, or relevant field) or equivalent work experience required.
• 4-5 years experience required

Position Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Provide locations/flexible work by preference: Any of the five tech hubs - no preference in order: Pittsburgh, PA, Dallas, TX, Birmingham, AL, Phoenix, AZ, Strongsville, OH
Ability to work remote: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 remote
Intended length of Assignment: Through 12/31/2025
Potential for Contract Extension: Yes
This position is contract with the right to hire if a need becomes available. Manager will only look at candidates that are open to converting to a full time PNC employee. PNC will not sponsor work visas if the decision is made to hire the contingent worker.
Function of the Group: Network security operations and policy management
Initiatives/Projects: Help support Network Access Control (NAC)
Industry Background: Network Security, Cryptography, Network Access Control
Team Dynamic: Network security ops team, working with a vendor
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Design and Implementation: Plan, design, and deploy network access control policies using Aruba ClearPass, ensuring alignment with organizational security and operational requirements.
• Integration: Integrate ClearPass with existing network infrastructure, including switches, routers, wireless controllers, and other security systems (e.g., firewalls, endpoint security tools).
• Policy Configuration: Configure and test policies for user and device authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA), including 802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+, and guest access management.
• Troubleshooting: Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for ClearPass-related issues, including policy enforcement, device onboarding, and network connectivity problems.
• Maintenance and Optimization: Monitor ClearPass performance, apply updates, and optimize configurations to ensure reliability and scalability.
• Collaboration: Work with network engineers, security teams, and system administrators to support broader IT initiatives and ensure seamless integration of ClearPass with other technologies.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of ClearPass configurations, policies, and procedures for operational continuity and compliance.
• Training and Support: Provide technical guidance and training to internal teams and end-users on ClearPass features such as Onboard (device provisioning) and OnGuard (endpoint health checks).
• Configure and manage firewall policies to protect network perimeters and internal segments.
• Integrate and troubleshoot firewall policies with NAC and other security platforms.
• Implement authentication protocols (802.1X, MAC-based, guest access) and endpoint compliance checks.
• Monitor network security, analyze logs, and respond to incidents in collaboration with the security team.
• Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs) and security standards (RADIUS, TACACS+).
• Hands-on experience with firewall products for network access control.
Must Have Technical Skills:
Level 2 - 3-5 years:
1. Aruba Clearpass
2. Authentication Technologies
3. Authorization Technologies
4. DIUS, LDAP, 802.1X, and AAA
5. Troubleshooting network access issues
Flex Skills/Nice to Have:
1. Experience with additional ClearPass features like TACACS+, Onboard, and OnGuard.
2. Knowledge of other Aruba solutions (e.g., AirWave, Aruba Central) or competing NAC platforms.
3. Understanding of enterprise security standards and compliance requirements (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA).
4. Scripting or automation experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for managing ClearPass configurations.
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Education/Certifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Certifications: Preferred certifications include Aruba Certified ClearPass Associate (ACCA), Aruba Certified ClearPass Professional (ACCP), or equivalent networking/security certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP).
