As an Advanced Embedded Software Engineer at Honeywell, you will be a key contributor to the development of next-generation embedded systems that power our Industrial Automation business within the Process Solutions group. You will have a direct impact on Honeywell’s cutting-edge safety management and control systems used in critical industrial environments around the world. This role goes beyond coding — you'll be solving real-world challenges by designing robust, scalable embedded software solutions that meet the highest standards for reliability and safety.
Your day-to-day work will involve full lifecycle software development, from concept and architecture through implementation, validation, and field support. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams, including systems, hardware, and test engineers, to bring innovative solutions from concept to production. This is a high-impact role for someone passionate about embedded technology, industrial automation, and creating tangible value through software innovation.
You will report directly to our Software Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Fort Washington, PA location on a hybrid work schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for industrial safety and automation systems using C/C++
• Define and document software requirements and architecture in collaboration with systems and hardware engineering teams
• Implement real-time applications on embedded platforms, including microcontroller-based systems
• Integrate software with hardware components, sensors, and communication interfaces (e.g., TCP/IP)
• Support product testing at all levels: unit, integration, and system; contribute to verification and validation for functional safety
• Troubleshoot field issues and provide support for root cause analysis and resolution
• Participate in configuration management and version control processes to ensure code quality and traceability
• Work collaboratively within Agile/SCRUM teams to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality software
• Continuously apply analytical thinking and problem-solving to optimize system performance and software reliability

YOU MUST HAVE
• 3+ years of experience in full life cycle software development using C/C++
• 3+ years working with embedded systems including micro controller integration

• A solid understanding of various software development lifecycles, enabling adaptability across projects and phases
• Experience working in Agile or SCRUM environments, with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, iterative development cycles
• Familiarity with network protocols like TCP/IP and foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles
• An understanding of the functional safety lifecycle and relevant certification processes
• Working knowledge of software configuration and change management best practices

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
