    SUMMARY

    The Ambulatory HIM Technician is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and security of medical records according to State and Federal regulations as well as RRH policies and procedures. Primary responsibilities include working with both electronic and paper-based clinical and administrative records to ensure they are complete, accurate and accessible to support patient care. Responsibilities include application of standard work methods, familiarity with departmental workflows and adherence to pertinent policies, practices, and procedures. Under moderate supervision, the HIM Tech supports the daily operations of the practice by ensuring that patient and clinician needs are being met through timely record keeping. Performs a variety of duties to include, but not limited to data entry, scanning, faxing, copying, mailing, and providing phone coverage. Processes mail and inbound faxes and ensures that documents requiring clinical review are available to providers and signed off in a timely fashion. Duties may also include chart boxing, indexing, and storage retrieval. Provides customer service through positive interactions with patients, families/personal representatives and RRH Staff.

    SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday days

    Desired Skills:

    + Associates degree preferred

    + Minimum 2 years related work experience in a healthcare setting or customer service setting preferred.

    + Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding documentation requirements preferred

    + Basic computer skills

    + Demonstrates knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy.

    + Demonstrates openness to suggestions for improvement and adaptability to change.

    + Demonstrates the ability to successfully perform multiple concurrent tasks to completion. ​

    Responsibilities:

    + Manages incoming calls while providing necessary information and maintaining confidentiality.

    + Greeting patients and/or their personal representatives and providing directions as needed.

    + Communication with external customers such as but not limited to payers, physician offices and other departments.

    + Collects, analyzes, prepares and scans clinical and administrative documents in a timely fashion.

    + Prior to scanning, reviews all documents to ensure they are signed off and tasks are complete.

    + Performs quality assurance checks on scanned documents to ensure documents are indexed correctly.

    + Monitors e-mail and resolves scanning errors in a timely fashion.

    + Monitors scanning corrections work queues and assures timely follow-up.

    S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
