Description
Lee County is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Planner in the Transit department. The incumbent establishes methodology and uses existing procedures for transit-related data utilized in reporting for internal county use and external private and public entities.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Assists with all areas of transit planning to include land use, zoning, community development, emergency management, and geospatial sciences.
+ Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, the federally required National Transit Database reporting.
+ Maintain the geographic information system database of transit system performance.
+ Prepare and publish the General Transit Feed Specification and monitor real-time GTFS data for external trip planning applications.
+ Research and compile information on a variety of planning and policy topics.
+ Analyze and prepare reports, maps, charts, and tables for a variety of transit data.
+ Evaluate transit performance trends and communicate findings.
+ Prepares daily farebox revenue and ridership reconciliations.
+ Communicates problems and suggests corrective action related to the use of passenger transportation system technologies.
+ Planning and scheduling LeeTran bus services and helps coordinate efforts with other Lee County departments and external stakeholders.
+ Utilization of transit Intelligent Vehicle Network (IVN/CAD-AVL) software for transit service scheduling.
+ Fulfill public data requests pertaining to fixed route performance data.
+ Assist in establishing methodology and utilize existing procedures for the compilation of transit-related data for reporting.
+ Coordinate transit services responsibilities and applications with other county departments, municipalities, and private or public sector entities.
+ Responsibilities may include making presentations to various committees.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Licensing
+ Education/Experience: Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate's degree in planning, computer science, or a closely related field and two years of urban planning or closely related experience.
+ License: Possession of a valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
Supplemental Information
+ Python, ArcPy, and ArcGIS experience preferred.
+ National Transit Database (NTD) experience is preferred.
+ Utilization of planning and scheduling software, as well as CAD AVL, is preferred.
Knowledge of:
+ Methods and procedures used in the development and analysis of planning information. Community trends and market analysis techniques.
+ Statistical analysis techniques and formulas relevant to the planning process.
Ability to:
+ Create maps and analyze spatial information in ArcGIS.
+ Create clear and compelling presentations and graphics in PowerPoint and/or graphics editing software.
+ Create and organize complex data spreadsheets, including the use of calculating formulas.
+ Present ideas and requirements clearly and persuasively, orally and in writing, to diverse, internal and external technical and non-technical audiences.
+ Perform difficult and complex technical research and analysis of planning issues or problems, evaluate alternatives, and recommend or adopt effective courses of action.
+ Interpret and present maps, graphs, statistical data, and visual displays clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences.
+ Analyze complex confidential problems, evaluate alternatives and make sound, appropriate recommendations.
The workdays and hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
